Too often we become engulfed in routine. We wake up and routine begins. We train and tram even though it’s less hassle to walk that last bit to work. We would rather sit than stand. It is a shame that we are predominately sedentary and inactive in a city that has so much to offer.
Fast Track proposes a re-stimulation for physical activity, a
new starting point for Melbournians. We have become too serious, too
overwhelmed with work and life to enjoy the little spontaneous moments
that change how we feel. Melbournians have forgotten how to see the
city as a place to explore.
Fast
Track plays upon the yellow fin-shaped balustrade in evolving them into
painted graphical arrows, whilst a flying fox soars overhead. The steel
structure is embedded as a part of the bridge by integrating existing
elements that flow from Southern Cross Station to the Docklands. It aims
to lure a simple change in routine and ignites a spark of physical
activity within Melbournians, allowing them to fly down Collins Street
Bridge. The proposal invites greater activity for pedestrians traveling
between Southern Cross Station, Central Melbourne and the Docklands but
predominantly encourages a sense of fun.

Waste value is a proposal for a transient living unit – or ‘architectural organism’ – that emerged through an exploration of environmental pollution accompanied by architecture as an organism and speculative utopias in architecture.
Waste value enacts a productive collision of house
and garbage truck. Retaining its function of garbage collection, it also
functions as a mobile home, aiming to reconfigure domestic spatial
experience into a truck-house-organism in which movements of waste and
pollution become
inherent to a pattern of living.
This architectural organism, much like the living body, processes material and brings to life the act of recycling.
Each Waste value unit is part of a functional social network, proposing a way of living as part of larger system of such ‘architectural organisms’.
While speculating upon a radical possibility for living, the units are derived from recycled materials that would normally go to landfill.
